James attended Weber State College and Utah State University on scholarship, and received a

Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from USU. At USU, James was on the faculty of the Youth Conservator, and was the teaching assistant for the Music Appreciation Course. A student of Gary Amano, James received the Outstanding Piano Performance Award, and was a soloist with the USU Symphony Orchestra. Employed by KBYU-FM in Provo, Jim worked 13 years as a recording engineer for the Utah Symphony. He is currently the manager of KBYI and KBYR radio stations at Brigham Young University-Idaho. He is a pipe organ enthusiast, and is nearing completion of the installation of a 44-rank Wurlitzer (Gee Dad) theater organ. Learn more about the journey of building The Mighty Wurlitzer here.

Paula graduated with distinction from the Indiana University School of Music
with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance, and magna cum laude from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance. She received USU Robbins Talent of the Year award and the Outstanding Woman Scholarship Award, and was named Outstanding Piano Student and Outstanding Music Student. Her former teachers include Enrica Cavallo-Gulli, Gary Amano, Gladys Gladstone, and Virginia Willard. Paula is a co-founder and past president of Utah’s Encore Music Teachers Association, and is current president of Upper Valley Music Teachers Association. She has more than 25 years’ experience teaching music, and currently teaches at BYU-Idaho.
